Born in Whitwell, near Sheffield and studied at the Sheffield School of Art and later at Godalming in Surrey. His early works are landscapes produced in S. Yorkshire and the Derbyshire area. He was influenced by Carlton Alfred Smith. Wilson kept clothes for his models to wear and painted by stippling on the colour with very fine brushes. He did not become a full time artist until he was 40 and only married at the age of 72. Very collectable.
